Will you be imPRESSED?

The new imPRESS press on manicure by Broadway nails claims that you simply press it on your nail and it will last up to a week. I've always been a big fan of fakies so I had to try to these.

My first impression (pun intended, lol) is that the nails are very thick and so is the glue, so perhaps these are sturdy enough to actually hold up. Also the nail its self is colored all the way through so you don't have to worry about the polish chipping off unlike regular fakies. I like the shimmery pink color, "Control Freak", and the name is fitting as I certainly am one!
The first time with a new product always takes the longest but I had these babies on in less than 10 minutes, including all the time spent reading directions and prepping (simply wipe nails clean with the enclosed wet nap). I'd estimate having them on in less than 5 minutes next time, which means this first time Mom has time to do her nails again!

A major benefit to these versus the glue ons is that you have more control over position of the nail before you're committed, so it's less likely that you'll have a nail facing sideways. However, due to the thickness they look less like your real nail. I tend to push the fakies under my cuticle for a natural look but couldn't do that with these.

So far I'm giving these 3.5 blings, but stay tuned for an update because I'm reserving final judgement until I see how they hold up. Can they really last up to a week?!

Claire's Mood polish Win from Sawan Part II

Overall these went on well, fairly opaque- two coats each. Nice color selection :)


Of all the ones I'm reviewing, this one stole the show. It's Happy/Earthy and it is fabulous! This doesn't just change shades, it changes from grass green to bright yellow- hot! 5 Blings!


I also love this blue/aqua combo called Peaceful/Confident. Decent color change and gorgeous color. 4 Blings.

Although I love the pink, this one didn't change hardly at all. It could be because my nails are too short to show a difference. Gotta love the name though: Fabulous/Funky. 3.5 Blings


This one was wild too! Grey to orangey taupe. Daring/Innocent has a good color change to it also. 4 Blings.

Goody Plum Drop

Well, this is from the Sweet Things line from Maybelline. This is two coats with no top coat. It went on ok. The color is much warmer than the pics. The weird thing about this polish is the little bubbles that showed up as it dried. Maybe if I had put a top coat on it would have been better.
I like the color and the $1.75 price was cool. 3.5 Blings

Rustic

Okay, sorry for the messy application. It was very late when I did this. Although I don't think the name "Charity Ball" describes this at all, I do think it would be a good color for fall. Again from Color Club's "Rebel Debutante" collection it has the same streaky but otherwise great application and formula. I love the consistency of this line! This one gets 3.5 Blings

Cherry Fashion

This is Rimmel - Cherry Fashion. Love the big brush. Like the color. The application was streaky and this is three coats with no top coat. Could be better could be worse. The day was gorgeous! I had to get some pics of this with some real cherry blossoms! 3 Blings

Who am I wearing?

This is "Who Are You Wearing?" by Color Club, #1 in the Rebel Debutante collection. I really like it- this was 3 coats, and a bit streaky but also very creamy and nice application. I like the light mushroom color too. 3.5 blings.

Gold Milani Holo

For me this is just okay. It went on great and dried fast, though the brush was tiny. I think it's my skin tone- just too red for this color. 3.5 Blings

Stunning Silvers!

Here are some stunning silvers to make you feel special! All of these are 3 coats, fairly sheer, and all except "Celeb City" were streaky.

Pointer - "Pedal to the Metal" by Sally Hansen Salon
I like this color, though I might franken it to have just a bit more lavender color. It had good but streaky application and average dry time. 3.5 Blings

Middle - "Risk Taker" by Pure Ice

This is awesome! It is very shiny with deep color that sucks you right in. Good, but again streaky application, moderate dry time, beautiful color! 4 Blings!

Ring - "Silver Mercedes" by Pure Ice
Similar application to "Risk Taker" but a light silver. I love the name- that's the whole reason I bought it :) Very nice and shiny. 3.5 Blings

Pinkie - "Celeb City" by Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear
This one is the standout! It dried the fastest, and sparkles like crazy! It was sheer as expected, but not streaky. This solves my craving for shiny and sparkly at the same time :) 4.5 Blings

Coral Comparison

Well it's officially spring! Here's some coral colors to brighten your day :) All of these are JUST ONE COAT!

Pointer - "Lunch at the Delhi" by OPI
I like this color, but am just not loving it. Maybe I've gone too glitter crazy and this is more creamy, but it boarders on mauve which I seriously dislike. It had good application and average dry time. 3.5 Blings

Middle - "Crushed" by Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear

Pics do not do this justice. It is very shiny with deep color that sucks you right in. Good application, moderate dry time, stunning! 4.5 Blings!

Ring - "Caribbean Coral" by Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear
Very similar to "Crushed" but a bit darker and creamy instead of shiny. Super opaque, easy application, great color, very nice. 4 Blings

Pinkie - "Peach Perfection" by LoveMyNails
This one was $1 at Walmart :) It dried the fastest, but was a bit streaky and is more of a pink than coral, but it is beautiful. I haven't liked this brand in the past so was hesitant on adding this one, but it is worth it's careful application and is very opaque- for such a light color this is saying something. Very shiny and a perfect spring pink. 4 Blings

This is Claire's - Dream Catcher, the Chanel dupe. I like it the DH say's (meh, pea soup). Well, poo on him! Maybe he'll like it after I get done doctoring it up for Patty's Day. This is three coats and a top coat. 3.5 Blings

April's Green Mani- Part 1

This is Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear "Emerald City" with 3 coats, and Seche Vite top coat. It was average for application with normal size brush (oh how I wish it was the larger brush) and a beautiful evergreen color. 3.5 blings so far.

Brilliant Browns

I've been wanting to do a brown comparison for some time, and here it is :) As you can see, two of the colors are identical- they are NYC "Canal Street" (Pointer finger) and Sally Hansen Insta-Dri "Mochachino". Complete dupes, but the SH has much better application, so I'd go with it if you have the choice.

All of these had a medium dry time. Here's the breakdown:

Pinkie- "Brisbane Bronze" by OPI

This was fairly thin, so it is the only one above that needed 3 coats, and I would probably go with 4 if I was planning on wearing it exclusively. A nice color. 3.5 blings

Ring- "Haute Chocolate" by Sally Hansen Salon

I've been wondering if these are worth the price. I love the application- nice wider brush (similar to the SH Insta-Dri brush), and it was quite opaque, though need 2 coats to bring out it's best (as pictured). I wouldn't say it's better than the Insta-Dri though, so unless you must have a certain color, I'd stick with cheaper polish. 4 blings

Middle- "Mochachino" by Sally Hansen Insta-Dri

Great opacity! I could have left this at 1 coat (shown at 2 coats)! It is exactly the same color as "Canal Street" (below). This went on smooth. Love! 4.5 blings

Pointer- "Canal Street" by NYC

Medium opacity, thin for application. Brush was just okay, but the color is great. 3.5 blings

Glitter makes it Better!

I added two more coats of 5 Golden Rings to the tips of my nails and one of Poshe' to smooth it out. The camera doesn't catch all the glitter, but this is better. I would at least walk out of the house in this mani, if I wasn't typhoid Mary that is. This flu sucks!!! 3 Blings

OPI Look Alikes

Over at Right on the Nail I was looking at the OPI Hot & Spicy Pics and was thinking hmmm, I think I have one just that color. So I pulled out "My Chihuahua Bites" and I think they are Dupes. What do you guys think? My Pics were all taken outside so the color came out a little light. This was three coats. 3.5 Blings

Oh, and I think that I caught that Glitter Bug from Manicured Manatee. It seems to be going around. This is two coats of NYX - Red Glitter (looks orange to me). Over my Chihuahua Bites. I think this looks really HOT! 4 Blings

Purple Duochrome comparison

I wanted to do a purple duochrome comparison that looked similar in the bottle to me.

Pointer - "Lapis Amethyst" by Sally Hansen Nail Prisms

This is alot lighter and more blue.This is three coats and it could have used four. Like. Not bad for 50 cents. 3 Blings

Middle - "Grape Going" by Sally Hansen Insta-Dri

This is the Scrangie Dupe that I was dying to try. Love the color. I cant wait to wear this when it is sunny! This is three coats and it could have used four. Love. 4 Blings

Ring - "Violet metal" by Rimmel Lasting Finish Pro

Gorgeous color and finish, what's not to love. This is three coats and it's just right. Love. 4 Blings

Pinkie - "Eggplant Frost" Wet n Wild Wild Shine

I'm not seeing the duochrome on the nail. This is still a really nice vampy dark purple. This is three coats but could have got away with two. The kicker here is it's got fab color, finish and shine and it's only $1.00. Love. 3.5 Blings

LoveMyNails "Plum Shimmer" with Hearts

First off, the color is not plum, though it is a beautiful pink and silver shimmer. It went on very easy, UNFORTUNATELY it comes off easy too! I can't get it to stop smudging, even after Seche Vite or Poshe top coats! For someone who works with horses and is very active, this is a deal breaker. I love the color, but it's virtually unwearable. Polish from hell gets 1.5 blings (.5 for good color).

The hearts are so cute and they look like rhinestones! Though they are also a bit hard to wear since they are hard and don't sit too well on the nails, a few top coats does the trick. 3 Blings

This is 2 base coats, but for the first coat this time I tried Barielle - Natural Nail Camouflage. It went on ok, gave a nice semi - matte finish. We will see how it wears. I've heard some good things about this and it was cheap at Marshall's.
I was going to skip the Nail Envy, but as I'm still growing my nails out after some bad breaks I couldn't make myself go with out it.
The Strawberry Fields is nice, the gold shimmer will be pretty in the summer. This is three coats with a Poshe topcoat. I would give it 3.5 Blings.

This went on smooth and had a good medium opacity and although I used 3 coats, I could have gotten away with 2. I am a bit disappointed that there isn't more blue. 3.5 Blings

Welcome to our new blog, for all things Bling!

The first review is of my fantastic Brown and Gold purse, from Kathy Van Zeeland.


First off, it is soooo much nicer in person! The gold just sparkles! Pros: Nice zipper pocket on the front for coins (or whatever), tons of room inside (great for hiding new purchases from unsuspecting DH, just kidding LOL), and more pockets inside for wallet, cell phone, or makeup. It also has a handy snap closure for easy access. Cons: The only thing I don't like about this purse is the large rings that attach the straps- they are a bit bulky, and they come off if you don't unscrew them with a glasses screwdriver and re-attach with super glue. Other than that, it is by far my favorite purse! 3.5 Blings
